The warm and compassionate man
By Ursula

My family and I met Steve Perry in September 1985. Contacted by the "Make a Wish Foundation" , Steve went out of his way to visit and spend time alone with a 14 year old devoted fan who was terminally ill. Debbie, a dear friend and a neighbor, loved Steve for the longest time - her room was full of posters of him and she had a tape of every song he sang. When she became so ill we knew meeting Steve would be a dream come true - so we contacted the foundation and they in turn contacted Steve who obliged.

The afternoon he came to Stony Brook Hospital on Long Island New York we met the most wonderful, sweetest, kindest, warmest and most compassionate man we have ever met. He treated everyone so kindly - but his thoughts were with Debbie. He insisted on spending time alone with her - and he did - she was very ill and he was wonderful with her. When she passed away he sent a beautiful floral piece with a sweet note. The next time he had a concert in NY he sent tickets to Debbie's family and friends. He invited them backstage too. He didn't forget and we will never forget him.

This is a story I tell to many people - I want them to know about the Steve Perry we met that day at the hospital. I offered to make him homemade pizza so he nicknamed me "Mama Pizza" - a name I cherish.

I heard he was not feeling too great and was really concerned. I went on line to get some information - and decided to tell my story. I want everyone to know what a beautiful man he is - and he was beautiful - in looks too!!!!

We all wish him the best - feel good, Steve - you are in our hearts - always - yours "Faithfully" Ursula "Mama Pizza" xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
