Thank you for your voice.
When I was 15yrs old, I heard your voice for the very first time.. I am now 44. Thank you for your music that has been with me all my life. I have shared your music to my children. And even though they are now adults, they still remember your voice. I remember your voice and how it soothed me through good times and bad times. Thank you for all you have given to us in Music…You are “The Voice”. I am waiting patiently for your new music.

Mary Ella April 16, 2010

Dear Steve Perry:
I first heard your wonderful and majestically infinite voice somtime during the 70s. As I recall, I also saw an MTV video with you and Journey. I remember how grateful you were to work on your uncle’s turkey farm while you were working through your gigs and Journey. What is so incredibly magical about your voice is that it has never sang a mundane song. No matter how long ago, where, or when, your voice is so beautifully timeless–it makes every song so plesantly infinite…to me.

Today I was just thinking about you, your voice, your music, and hoping you will put together a solo tour. We love you Steve Perry.

Chris April 18, 2010

Lou Ann April 23, 2010

I have been a fan for close to 30 years now. My big brother used to listen to the Journey “Escape” album back in the early 80′s and I have been a fan ever since. I just wanted you to know that your music has been such an important part of my life. One of my favorite songs is “When I Think Of You” because whenever I am really missing my dad, (He passed away 9 years ago) I listen to that song and I feel comforted. You see Steve, it isn’t just the words that you sing, it is the feeling and the emotion that comes through when you sing. That is what is so special about you. We “feel” when we listen to your music. What an amazing gift you have! I hope you will continue to share it with us…we have been “Missing You”!

A.K khan April 23, 2010

Steve, I love your music and following for last twenty years, you are the best. A.K Khan

Lyle April 25, 2010

Steve
wow thanks for all the great music, so many great memories growing up with your music. Now my teenage daughters listen to dont stop believing they too are amazed. recently the you tube release of a singer that can do ” near steve perry vocals” has surfaced,… he is good but he is no steve perry. My biggest regret? never got to see Journey with Steve Perry. Steve, if you get a chance, do some tours, we would love to see a legend in action.

Rebecca April 25, 2010

I can still remember the first time I heard Journey. It was 1978 and the song was “Wheel in the Sky” I immediately fell in love and had to know who the singer was. Awesome doesn’t even come close to describing your angelic voice and lyrics, Steve. I feel so blessed to have lived during the music of Journey and will forever be a fan. I am 48 years old now and my 3 children know who my favorite band will always be!

Genelle Zwickey April 26, 2010

Thank you Steve, for all the wonderful songs that you have performed. You
have the most wonderful voice and I have enjoyed listening to it very much.
I wish that I could meet you in person some day.

eric lonsbury April 26, 2010

Steve,

I am a musician, and I gig all the time. I cannot begin to put into words how hungary people are for journey. when we play the songs I can see people singing along with tears in their eyes. I believe it’s not so much because of the type of song but of the “loss” that people feel because of the absence of bands like Journey. with you as the front man. What a rush to think about the explosive impact a reunion would have on the world.

D16RR-702 April 28, 2010

sing it baby……..

…………..in the niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jarrod April 29, 2010

Steve – your version of “dont stop believin” i heard for the first time today at 34 years old on you tube. Your version of that song has just changed the way i will look at music forever. That song is EPIC!

Justin April 29, 2010

Steve- I grew up listening to Journey, I have to say that your voice is a voice that will remain a part of rock history. It is a voice that as soon as you hear it you know who it is. It is filled with such emotion and passion. Even when you went solo the second that I heard Oh Sherrie I knew who it was.

I have to say that Journey did make a good choice with Arnel. I see that comments that people make comparing him to you and he do sing well but when I hear it I don’t feel it. It lacks what you have it is hollow in the way that it lacks the fire and the heart of the songs. It is like comparing Bon Scott to Brian Johnson of AC/DC.

Sure he is good, but you took Journey to the iconic legacy that it has today. And “fans” seem to forget that without your vocals and talant Journey might have faded in to one hit wonder status.

Once Arnel makes a name for himself he will fade into the land obscurity of fame. Just like the released replacement Jason Dean Bennison AKA J.D.Fortune of INXS who let stardom go to his head.

You are an amazing singer and you voice can bring a range if emotions from joy to sadness. When people hear Open Arms, Lights or Any Way you want it you can see the music and sound touch people in many ways.

Thank Steve for all the memories and moments that have enriched our lives, you will always have a place in the hearts of fans.

tatiana martinez April 30, 2010

I’m from chile, and your voice and the way you share all the energy your powerful way of sing is just so touching, some times I think how it would be the heaven and I’m sure at least the angels were singing like You Steve !! thanks to your parents and all the people who encouraged to you to sing and thus touching many lives around the world

Sylvia Michaud May 10, 2010

Hey Stevie,

Just thought I’d write a quick song for your amusement. Hope you are having a great day.

Baby Come My Way

Baby, baby baby come my way. I just want, want you to stay. I had a dream that you’d be mine someday. Baby, baby, baby come my way.

We sat together and you leaned close to me. You have been thinking about it I can see. You stand up and give me your cute smile, yes, you will spend some time with me awhile.

A turn for the worse, you give me a call, and I can’t see you at all, I wonder if you dump all your girlfriends this way.

Finally you return, and give me tickets to next week’s show. I sit behind you as you perform and, don’t you know, I can’t wait until I’m with you alone, baby, in my dreams.

Mark Kurucar May 11, 2010

Steve, I’m now a 49 year old man! I have played in dozen of bands, put out my own C.D.’s. 1 year ago I had a DOUBLE transplant! Liver&kidney. I have always strived to be a singer, not a sceamer, not a rapper, but a SINGER! You voice in the 80′s, inspired me to be a better singer. Your style, melodies, vibarto, and RANGE, made everybody just melt. I for one realize that I do not have the range, that I had 10yrs ago! In my “NEW” band”A.K.A.” When I pulled out some of my own songs I realized I could not sing those high notes. Though I believe I’m a better all around singer now, I just don’t have the range that I had 10-20yrs ago. Ann Wilson& Steve Perry are simply the best male& female rock singers of all time! Thank you for showing EVERYBODY how to sing with feeling&emotion,You inspired me the will to live, so I could sing again!! MUCH LOVE&RESPECT for being you! Thank you& Goodnite!!

Hermina May 11, 2010

Dear Steve,
Did your grandparents live in Pismo? My grandparents told me that you use to come visit them up the street from them and knew you. They’ve passed on now though. What a voice. You were the only one I never had a chance to see in concert that I wanted to see. What luck huh? Anyway thank you for the great music still play it to this day. Enjoy life and take care.

CM LaMay May 13, 2010

Dear Steve, To tell you of the impact you have had on me personally and our precious world! I would have to have the ‘gift’ that you have in song writing and SINGING!

Through all the hard times and good times you have been there with your encouragement.

Please thank your wife for us! The website is WONDERFUL! It makes me feel like I am included in your very special circle of friends!

It is my hope to see you on stage at least 1 time in my life, as life has not yet afforded me the opportunity to see you perform live.

When GOD made you and filled you with His gift of voice and song ALL His angels THRILLED to your voice, as do we, then, now & forever.

I have a hope of hearing your blessed voice throughout all of eternity singing!

GOD bless you both and all your family and friends.

Hi Steve!
Hope everything is going well with you.
Don’t you think it amazing that your music
is still bringing joy-it is timeless!
Thank you, Lynn

jime May 14, 2010

Hi Steve, I have been listening to music lately, I mean I listened to Journey when I was a child, now I am 37 and can appreciate your talent. WHAT AN AMAZING VOICE!!!!! Now I think that you are one of the best singers ever, maybe the best! I don´t know if you are going to read this, anyway I want to say that it would be amazing to attend a Journey concert once in live with Steve Perry of course¡ Is this possible? I am from Quito-ECUADOR. Bless yuo Steve!!!!

David May 14, 2010

Thank you for all the years of inspiration. I grew up in the 80s learning about music from FM radio (and MTV of course) and one of biggest influences on me was Journey. One of the first “real” piano parts I learned I literally wore out the tape playing along with the Escape album and learning Open Arms note-by-note on my little casio keyboard. I grew up to be a keyboardist, rhythm guitarist and songwriter playing in my own groups. I write and record my own music now and I will always be indepted to Journey and Steve Perry as an example of soulfulness, taking chances while honoring our musical forebears and following my inner muse (although often I have to admit that muse has a crooning tenor voice).

Hey Steve, if you’re ever looking for a new collaborator and want to take a chance I could maybe be convinced to throw my hat into the ring!

Sincerely,
David

Foxen B Perry (Melanie) May 15, 2010

Hey Steve, I think ur swell, in my book, that means you are the most awesomest person in the entire world.. in other words, you are a GOD!!! XD I ran my batteries dead on my 80′s boombox listening to your voice! which reminds me, I need to go to doller tree and buy some more! =D

steve stevens May 16, 2010

without steve perry, JOURNEY ceased to exist…………………….thanks, steve

Big Irish May 17, 2010

Steve,
Thank you so much for your music. I have a terrible battle with cancer now at the age of 49. Your music and words helps me through the hardest of hard days.
I will always have great memories of all of your Great songs.
Your songs are a great medicine that helps me daily.
Thank you Steve,

Big Irish

Christne McKenney May 17, 2010

just wanted to say hi. i actually got to see journey w/ bryan adams in los angeles about 23 years ago. i was about 16 and journey was definately a favorite, my very first concert. definately had a crush on steve perry, hope he has a good life.

Lee Ann Price May 18, 2010

I just want to thank you for all the wonderful years of your voice! I am 35 and have listened to you since I was 5! Through all the changes with Journey, and you as solo I love it all. I know a band has to work together to make it but to me you were always “the band” there isn’t a voice like yours until now….the young man who now sings for Journey is also great but there will always only be one you! I wish I would have had the chance to see you with Journey. I have seen them twice but it’s not the same without you!

Renee Baird May 23, 2010

I am not usually the type of person that writes on blogs but today I felt compelled to do so. Lately I have been somewhat melancholy about my life and the fact that I have been divorced for 10 years now. I am 48 years old and often wonder if my soulmate is out there waiting on me. I have been listening to Journey and the amazing voice of Steve Perry!! His voice is truly a gift from God! His music is so passionate and uplifting to me. I never had the opportunity to see him in concert and for that I will forever be so disappointed. I do not know this man but there are a few things that I can truly say about him. (1) His voice is one of a kind. (2) His mother must have been an awesome woman to have encouraged him to pursue his career even when he wanted to give up. (3) His parents raised him right. Everything that I read about him says that he is a gracious man that seems to truly care about his fans and other human beings. I can only imagine how hard it would be to try and stay a down to earth type of person when you are so loved and gifted. But is seems that he has managed to do just that. So Steve if you read any of this, please know that you are putting a smile on my face when I hear your music. And right now in my life, I so desperately need that. May God continue to bless you in your life and it is my prayer that you also find your soulmate in life! If you are ever in North Carolina, I hope to get to see you. I am just that small town girl that you sing about. God Bless you always.

Kim May 27, 2010

so..whats new with steve perry these days ? time sure is kind and its like having music in a time capsule with the cd’s that you recorded {solo days} I kinda have forgotten Journey because Journey without steve perry is like a rainstorm without the rain…at least there are memories…whatever you decide to do with your life and wherever your career takes you I pray you will be happy and at peace with your life most of all and of course ….you never forget …your fans still care about and love you very much..best of luck in all you pursue Steve and I hope you get to read this one day…lol take care ..your friend.

Kimber June 2, 2010

Steve, We took your voice for granted….

I loved all the work you did with Journey,

But do enjoy the mature…and expressive solo work as much….like “Missing You”

Don’t you have anything else to say to the world , our dear friend…We miss hearing your voice… we love the way you express life for us…. Time is like sand in an hourglass, slipping away..

With Journey on tour with Arnel, and I wish him love and success…

We can no longer hope that You and the rest of Journey would reunite..and somehow…it’s ok….Journey with your voice was a different place in time.
Please don’t withold your talents from the world, Stop feeling like you must compete with yourself….like all fine things…..age and time….mellow and mature…

It was that voice…..those words….and the passion …Steve your singing is a gift from God, and brings joy to the hearts of millions….

I spent the whole morning watching the H/D version of “When you love a woman”

Can’t explain why I feel so sad, except…For so many years, We thought you would always be around…We, Your fans took you for granted….and I’m sorry…Now, We are ready Steve….We have matured…We want you to sing again… Tell us of love and the bittersweetness of life… Now is the time to find your self…. Please record again… Your voice/lyrics are so missed by this world…

with love and gratitude,

Kimber

Pat Henman June 3, 2010

Hello Steve,
Thank you so much for the years of song and music….
Was feeling a little blue, because At Bethal Woods{Better known as the field where orginal woodstock was held} Upstate N.Y, this year is a list of Generational Rockers…We have Yes, and Frampton Moody Blues, saw them in Atlanta 1978..
Santana, Sting {Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra Conducted by Steven Mercurio } John Mayer and Train, and last but not least…
Dave Matthews Band

Bethal has some great bands every year..even saw Skynard a few years ago…but you rockin the fields at Woodstock would be a perfect Summer Concert…

Come on, if Santana and the Moody Blues can get out here…You certainly can…We would love to have you here! You know the saying, Old Rockers never stop touring and making music, They can just afford better buses!

You should also be on twitter….you can communicate with fans and get some really uplifting feedback…Shakira was texting from a tarmack in Dubai, and Alicia Keys tweets like every hour…her fans love the what ya up to updates…
Ben Stiller tweets Lance armstrong about tweeting during a massage, and Lance tweets back ..uhhh thanks!
John Legend says:
Watching the game now. Get him to the greek was hilarious. Ending drags a little. But it’s a fun movie.

BradPaisley I hear music outside the bus… Justin Moore just started. Gonna have to have him turn it down I’m trying to sleep… Im joking of course.

Anyway, The fan/Artist Mystique is all but gone now…you can be very private and yet still communicate with fans…The learning curve is easy…..

Anyways…Love your music…..The tour should never be over! unless your as old as ozzy osborne! Then stay home or do oprah!

Huggles

mark June 9, 2010

sorry theres no journey with you steve. steve is the voice!!!! wish you were touring through missouri.

David June 11, 2010

Many years ago when I was troubled or sad I would lock myself in my room and listen to captured. Now as I am getting older It is still one of my favorite stand by albums. And I listen to it often.
My oldest doughter who just turned 14 joined a theater group ( she was fantistic) after there last show I was quietly waiting in the back of the theater, every one was gone and the group was cleaning up. One of the girls sits at the piano and starts playing don’t stop believin, I look up and there is my little girl singing one of the songs that brought me threw some really hard times she knew every word and sang it perfectly, I almost cried!
Now I relise that there is a whole now generation listening to the same music I did on there Journey and now they to turn to you in times of trouble.
I want to THANK YOU for being there for me then all those years ago and now for my children. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jonas June 12, 2010

I like your music with Journey and your solo project is really nice too.
I have a question, when do you wanna do a show in Sweden?

Take Care
Jonas

Angela H June 15, 2010

I am just a face in the crowd, Like so many others. Odds are, Steve will never read this. But I know the fans, the other faces in the crowd do stand and agree with me that we miss hearing Steve’s Music. Only hearing “Oh SHerrie ” get old lol…
Crazy I don’t even know you Steve personally Yet through the power of his gifts of song and voice, he has touch so many in spirit.
Crazy I know so much about Steve but nothings at all lol.. I wish you Steve the best – Miss you alot and would love to see
where you are today as a writer. Over the years it was fun to watch you bloom and your music change as well as your vocal style. Your High notes never moved me as did your low ones- My favorite Vocal performance from you was on Dream after Dreams a song called “Sand Castles”. Love the way you move through that song. So perfect.
I am sad that you have not moved to release anything. My only questions would be what is it that is stopping you ? Only MR Perry knows that answer.
Me hope for you Steve would be if you do record one last record may it be a
Sam Cooke tribute CD I think. That would be a great last dance with the music . Go back to where it all started with you Steve.
Bless your mother heart, Do it in her memory.
well.. anyway much love and a BIG THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC MY DEAR…

from A Face in the Crowd
Angela.

robin love June 15, 2010

1984,i was driving a blue and white taxi in downtown st.paul minnesota when you waved me down looking to find the hyatt hotel. I saw your concert with bryan adams fronting. I am now 51 years and still love your music/journey. I listen to journey and it brings back such memories at a very crazy time in my life. keep on keeping on brother you are journey

Sabrina Ferrara June 15, 2010

I’m watching a VH1 concert of Journey playing in Manila. I have to say the dude immitating Steve is doing a pretty damn good job . . . but he just doesn’t have IT. I thought if I closed my eyes, I might not be able to tell the difference, but I can. He doesn’t have Steve’s intensity, range, power, or looks. I have to admit I can’t stand this guy’s looks. He’s just really annoying, despite the imitation. Steve, we miss u. Just know that no imitation can compare to the original. And btw, you can see it on the faces of your former band members. They’re doing Wheel in the Sky as I type, and the singer is trying to get the crowd going, but he’s just way too freakin’ annoying. Sorry!

Sabrina Ferrara June 15, 2010

And his breathing technique is distracting! Steve could wail on what seemed like an endless amount of lung capacity, but this guy just can’t handle it. I’m so sorry for this second post, but the dude’s making me sick. I can’t wait to see how he does on the next song . . . I may have to pause a moment. . . oh my God . . . he’s trying SO HARD to sound EXACTLY like Steve . . . it’s pathetic. I’m sorry, once again . . . When the Lights Go Down in the City . . . I want to cry ;-(

Sabrina Ferrara June 15, 2010

The drummer is singing now . . . I like his rendition better. His voice has more of Steve’s vibrato . . . more appealing than the lead singer’s voice. Sounds so much more natural . . . and more like it’s coming from within him as opposed to the lead singer’s style, which seems so unnatural. I again apologize to the fans of the dude I’m dissin’.

walt June 16, 2010

i agree, sabrina, seems a bit kareoke, to qote randy.

Chris Presson June 17, 2010

I agree about the new lead singer. My husband was watching the dvd that came with the last cd and he was saying how the new guy sounded just like Steve Perry. He is a Beatles fan so I told him, look at it this way. If there was some other guy singing Paul M’s part you could tell the difference. No one will ever replace Steve Perry. I wish they would stop trying. I want to see Steve Perry live one more time before my life is over. My 18 year old son wants to see Journey in concert. I want him to see the real Journey.

JD June 18, 2010

I have a 20-yr old daughter (Hannah) who “discovered” Journey – Steve Perry a few mnths ago. She has the lady’s equivalent of Steve’s voice and is just crazy about his music/voice/life; especially his pitch accuracy when performing multiple pitch-jumps across so many different intervals. My whole family sings and I’ve told her Steve is particularly accurate (and soulful) with his pitch control. Her BDay is coming up on 14 June. We’re throwing her a singing/karaoke BDay party hosted by The SCB (Swamp Central Band) in Fitzgerald, GA. SCB will be practicing/jamming w/ anybody who wants joining in on stage. “Red” and Tim front for the band. Red is my younger sister and her hubby is Tim. SCB is on MySpace. Anywho, is there any possible way to arrange for Mr. Perry to call Han @ her party and wish her a Happy Birthday? The bash is on tomorrow, 6/19/10 @ 8:00 in Fitzgerald, GA. Her cell is 478-230-2463. Mine is 478-230-8314. I’ll even pay $ for the call.

Rick June 19, 2010

Hey Steve,

I have been a fan the day you stepped on stage with Journey!
You are awesome and I really miss your voice and lyrics.
I love my family as I know you did too.
Selfishly, I wish you’d begin singing again, but know your most loyal fans understand the pain and suffering the loss of a loved one can be.
I, too, have lost so many in a short period of time.
Thanks for all you have done with your music, and God Bless you, ALWAYS!
May you find peace and hapiness as you continue your “Journey”.
Sincerely,
Rick

Rick June 19, 2010

I forgot to ask.

Steve, if you would ever consider helping me with doing a fundraiser for researching a cure for Cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, or Rheumatoid Arthritis, I would love to make something happen. These conditions have taken too many wonderful people.

Thanks,

Rick (rickwentz@charter.net)

Thank you for taking the time to say hello to my son Robby at the Red Sox game Saturday 6/26/10. It was a thrill for him and he’s been telling all his (girl)friends. I’ve been a Journey fan since 1975. Loved their first 2 albums, but were at a dead end by their third, Next. You rescued them, and you all got rich because a you worked hard and delivered a great product. You DESERVE it! Go Giants (hit better!)

Sue July 7, 2010

Mr. Steve Perry;

Just thought you should know that you have been my favorite artist and band since you hit the streets and the airwaves in the 70′s (OUCH I KNOW THAT HURTS)!!! Your lead guitarist (from a heavy metal backgound) and your talent as well as the rest of the band members have made the most influential musical impact ever in the music industry. The average Joe and the unaverage Joe have just realized you have been the most underated band of all time. HELLO, WHAT TOOK THEM SO LONG TO COME TO THAT CONCLUSION???? Never-the-less…me along with a gazzillion people feel the same. My dying wish is to just be able to meet you in person and hug you and shake your hand…………ok and autograph. My name is Susan and I have one final question????? When are you going to sing again with that beautful, one of a kind voice of yours??? Your Mother asked me to ask you that! Journey became Journey because of you and don’t forget that Cutes!!! No one can fill your shoes and if Mick Jagger and Steve Tyler can muster up a concert ……………………hello enough said.
Kind Regards,
Miss you,
Just one of your loyal admirerers, please make a come back for your fans…NO ONE CAN REPLACE YOU….JUST ASK YOUR MOTHER!!!!!!!!!!!! MOTHERS KNOW BEST.

Foxen B. Perry July 7, 2010

Steve, as well as many others who remember you from our teen years (Lemoore High), I would love to see you on stage again. I also loved (with your help) what Glee did with your songs (thank you). I was so impressed and they made me feel so great again. You have such a great talent and millions of not only fans, but people that view you as a friend, would love to hear from you again. I hope some day to see you again…on or off the stage.

Respect always…LSJ

Steve,

I read this year’s birthday message and it is strange how time passes quicker as one grows wiser (hate the term older). Also in my 50′s, I understand your need to relax and remain private. I will say that listening to your songs brings a smile to my face and brings joy to my soul on many days. With such a talent and gift, it should be shared–BUT I understand your need for happiness and escape from that grind. Be happy and if you ever decide to share your amazing gift, I will be listening. May joy, love, and happiness fill your life daily. Thank you for the happiness you have brought to others and your efforts to improve our world.

Luis July 9, 2010

There isn’t anything I can say that hasn’t already been said about you Steve. You are much loved, admired and respected. Journey was a great band when you were the lead vocals but Journey isn’t Journey without you. Thank you for sharing your music and voice with us Stay happy,be well and for all of us who can’t have a day go by without you in it please consider releasing more DVD’s from previous CD’s “Trial by Fire” and “For the Love of Srange Medicine” and should you decide to be only semi-retired, well you know we are here waiting.
Always

Tahnja July 11, 2010

I’m a singer/songwriter and musician from Australia. I was first introduced to the phenomenal music of Journey when I went to America in 2001 and performed for 3 years. When I first heard that voice I remember being so blown away and moved that I said right there and then “that is one of the greatest voices I’ve ever heard in my life”….but then when I sang Faithfully (as a note for you, in the break right before you sing the words Faithfully I use to make the sign of the Cross on stage :o) for the first time I REALLY learned just how phenomenal your voice is Steve. I mean, I’m a woman and I had to really train myself to sing those incredible notes you make sound effortless!

I was blessed in that time to work with some of the finest musicians in the world. Hearing them play those notes from Journey gave me a love for the music you wrote in a way that has remained with me ever since.

Mariah Carey did your music great justice, I sure hope you agree.

I really love hearing that you guard your music and the legacy you desire to leave behind. Not many songwriters seem to do that today. I really respect that and so many things about you. There is no doubt you and your music are a great inspiration to so many.

Steve, I will leave off here and say thank you so much for your great love for music and singing which you have so graciously shared with the world. You are greatly loved by so many! God bless you and your family for all eternity!

Matt Greene July 14, 2010

Hey Steve!

I’m Matt Greene. I’m 22. I live in Greensboro, NC.
I have the Journey Essential 2 cd set, and I love listening to it.
And I even added to my iPOD playlist, it’s great. I’ ve seen Journey in concert back in 07 or 08, when they came to Charlotte, NC Verizon Amphitheatre Outdoor. Jeff Scott Soto was the 3rd string lead singer, i remember they announced that Steve Augeri was sick and feeling bad. I’m sure he missed being there to perform and all. When the time come, the time comes. I know God’s right watching. I like Arnel Pineda a whole lot! His voice reminds me of yours, and to be honest with you, I bet when everyone listens to Arnel, i bet some people thinks that it’s you instead of him. I think Neal,Ross,Jon,And Dean did a great job of finding Arnel Pineda. I watch the live concerts on youtube.com, i have lots of fun listening to it and watching too!
I hope someday I get to meet you. It would be a real honor to. If that comes true one day, I’ll wear my Journey shirt, and i’ll bring the other too!
I hope everything is treatin’ you well!
I wish you lots of luck and in the future too! And you did a awesome job entertaining and performing for everyone around the world, and I won’t ever forget about you, when you were with Journey, and brought ratings up real fast i bet. I know everyone went wild and crazy over you and journey.
I’ll end this note here!
I’m glad you got to be a part of Journey, it sure is a blessing, and I won’t forget your singing voice. It still plays over and over on the radio!
Bye Steve!
Thanks For Reading!

Nanci Greene July 17, 2010

I have like so many others have fallen in love with your voice- my first time hearing you sing was “lovin’ touchin’ squeezin’ and I had to go out and get the 45 that day and I have loved to listen to you ever since. all my kids love you too! everyone knows that when one of your songs comes on to crank it up and sing with it or shut up-lol.
thank you for all the wonderful music you have shared through the years
be safe in all you do

Steve Farnsworth July 17, 2010

A few years ago, Steve you came to Spokane Wa, on a solo tour. My wife and I scraped up the money to see your show. It was a time in our lives that funds were low and our oldest children were putting us through the “mill”. It was the best distraction for us to be at the concert. I have very good memories of that night, one that I will never forget.. Now, we have a 24 year old daughter, who is just as much a fan now than we were then. Thanks for being there when we needed you, and you didn’t even know how much we needed that time together., By the way, you introduced your drummer and the crowd went wild when you said that he was from Spokane. I’m sure that you get alot of thank you’s, but I really mean thank you!!!! If there was anything I can do for you, well, just send me out a shout. May, you be blessed in your life,
Steve Farnsworth

Ann Azevedo Bolich July 19, 2010

In the 70′s and 80′s my grandmother (Christina McGranahan) would visit her niece, Rose Quaresma and her husband Manuel i Pismo Beach, Ca. I also got to visit them as a young teenager and they would come up to Santa Cruz to visit our family also. Little did I know that Manuel’s grandson we Steve Perry!!!! Manuel would talk about his grandson and how proud he was on all his success in the music and show him the well of all his gold records which he proudly had on his wall his house in Pismo. Of course, my grandmother said she met Steve many times down there. All she said was he had very long hair and was in a rock band.
Being in her 80′s she couldn’t remember the name of he Band (JOUNEY!!!) until on day we were all watching We are the World sung by Michael Jackson and friends and she pointed Steve out and said “That’s him” Oh Gosh. I finally found out that all these years it was the portuguese relative down in Pismo.

So sorry I never got the chance to meet Steve. His grandparents thought the world of him.. Maybe someday!!!!! (My grandmother would come home from her visits with Rose and Manuel and complain that Steve’s hair was too long….If only she knew how famous he was. And what a great musical artist..

All the best Steve and your grandfather, Manuel, was a very nice man!!!! Still have pictures from my Mom’s family albums.

All the best and I have always in enjoyed your music and people have said that I look like you also. (Those portuguese genes are strong) All the best to you! Ann Azevedo Bolich, your somewhat lost step cousin.

Scott Meirs July 21, 2010

Steve:

As I grew up in your time when you were the front man of the band Journey, I watched an interview you did for Behind the Music and I listened to you parting words about the bands future. Journey is like your first love, your first kiss, your first tape, your first concert, your first car, and your first everything!
Youn can not duplicate any of these times. I know you have moved on, and, your feelings have moved on about the band its continuation. I heard you say “don’t crack the stone, go out and do your own thing”. I didn’t know it at the time, but they Niel and company decided to put another front man in your place. I wrote the band then and I will write the band again. Your window for success is only opened so far. You get one shot in that time to etch your image and your brand into this world. I indicated that the band would not enjoy the success that they did in your time because of the first factor. Agin, no one can duplicate the bands success and watching all the front men that they have put fourth only proves my point. The band gets frustrated because they too feel the same way. Deep down they know its wrong to captitalize off the coat tails of another. They can’t help themselves because its all about the void. I normally do get so involved in this type of thing but I felt obligated to speak after watching the bands latest attempt to put on a show in Manilla.

Not even close, its like watching the Gong Show with Chuck Berry if you remember. They have not cracked the stone because they can not find the stone to crack??? The window is almost closed, and I think the band also understands this. I wish Neil would have set his ego aside and sucked it up as a Professional Musician. He has gotten away from what made him a success, he has always wanted to do his own thing but did not have the talent to venture on his own.

Well, I said enough, I hope I did not, stir up a bunch of old memories that I know mean the world to you. As for the band, I would hope they break into another chapter of music, do something that’s their own. Stop messing with our first love, as you only have one. Truly one!

Jerry R July 23, 2010

I am not sure if Steve will ever receive this, however I certainly hope he does. I am a die hard Journey fan and a fan of yours especially. I still believe there is hope we will once again hear your incredible tenor voice across this land.

I was driving to work this morning and this crazy idea came to me. Wouldn’t it be so cool if you and Steve Smith colaborated together on a CD. Just a thought. I certainly hope to hear from you soon as we all do! Take care Steve and I sincerely hope you give a little thought to that idea……….Jerry

Irene Finley July 23, 2010

Dear Steve,

It takes an incredibly secure, self-confident, mature male with great morals and values to be called a REAL man. There’s thousands of pretenders out there, but very, very few who can walk away from being the target of adulation and having the attention of millions, to go back to their roots and themselves.

Maybe the path to the way home became dreary and lonely, the decision at the fork in the road humbling and painful, but it worth it in the end, yes? You found you again and I’m happy for you.

I deeply admire your courage, and those of us out here who “get it,” will get by on past work, sweet memories and daydreams. We can only hope for more if you’re so inclined to give it.

Keep living for yourself first, as we only get one turn at life. (Unless, of course, you happen to believe in reincarnation, in which case, see ya around next time, I hope I come back as your cat, or left arm, or sister, or friend or more. :)

Thanks for sharing yourself and your voice with the rest of us, and for warming up this particular Canadian on many a cold, winter’s night. Sweet dreams, always!

Irene

Josie July 24, 2010

I remember the day I first truely knew your voice, the first song I heard. Well I was 11, so it’s not that hard to remember. I’m 13 now, and I’ve been rocking out ever since I heard “Wheel in the Sky.” Every tape I could find of my parents, (Not that many I assure you, they shake their heads when I talk about you and the 80′s.) every C.D. I can find in stores or on the internet. You have truely touched my life. You probably get tired of hearing this, but you are “The Voice.” I’m no longer like the other girls. It truely is “your voice that keeps on haunting me.” I hope that someday, you can bless us all again with your goregous voice. Thank you for the music. Josie ;)

patty newman July 24, 2010

You are not forgotten, loved you in ” Journey ” we grew older together and you still float my boat as we age…Thank-you STEVE PERRY for all the GR8 music,i still believe in you !!

Mark Chin July 26, 2010

Steve,

When I was a teenager (30+ years ago) I liked Journey but there was so much great music out there I did not have a chance to see you live. I have to admit Led Zep was my favorite band. Recently there has been the resurgence of the band with Pineda and I have seen the live in Manilla concert on TV. I have to admit I thought he had a voice similar to yours. So I picked up the Escape Tour Live DVD from 1981 to make a fair comparison. The show was awesome! Furthemore it proved that as good as the “kid” is in copying you there is and only is one “Steve Perry”! Your voice is on another level compared to Pineda and it is not even close. All my younger wife could say about the show was wow! You didn’t see these guys in their prime! Well at least I have the DVD. Thanks for the great music.

Tavia July 29, 2010

When I was younger, I was told something that put the impression in my brain that you had past long ago. I’ve grown-up listening to your music, and as I grow older I find that I relate to things on many different levels over time. Through everything, though, through absolutely everything your voice has been the inspiration in my life. For years, I’d had you up on a pedestal with the greats that passed too soon, and wished that I’d had the honor to live in the same life-time as you. Upon learning a few minutes ago that you are still alive, I had one of the happiest most touching moments in my life. It’s like a Christian learning that Jesus had never died, he’d in fact been here among us all along. Mr. Perry, you are my Jesus. Thank you for being such an inspiration to me through-out all these years. You really are my icon. You’re my idol. And you have no idea how much I am about to cry now. Some day I will meet you, Mr. Perry, but until then- thank you.

~Tavia (you’re biggest teenage fan :) )

Maureen Bergen Propps August 2, 2010

I just want you to understand me pretty old now have loved all kinds of music but mostly rock have lung cancer wont be around much longer bet you dont really read these but i have always loved your voice NO one can replace you your voice You truly have a gift from god gives me chills till this day want to thank you for your voice you gave me joy!

Cheryl August 3, 2010

As a long-time fan of Journey, I think I speak for many when I say how difficult it is to accept that you are no longer with the band. To know they are touring with someone else and to know that their music is not the same without you, and your music really isn’t the same without them – It’s almost like your parents getting a divorce! LOL And now one parent is married to someone else, and the other is okay with it. When really, you just want them to get back together. I’m sure you’re tired of hearing it as I’m sure Journey is, but we can’t help it.
Thank you for the music. I grew up with it as I did with my parents (who are not divorced), and still depend on it for good times and bad. My father threw away all my old albums by accident, so I’m now trying to buy them back! In the meantime, I’m rediscovering the older stuff on CD and loving it! Cheers to you and your success and hope to hear more from you in the future!

Sandrah August 4, 2010

I was so pleased to find this amazing guy with this amazing voice. I started to read all i could find about him, and today I was reading and found that this guy wouldn’t like it at all if I wanted to be a fan of the songs that he sang, because I don’t have what it takes to be a fan ( i’m not white). What a joke. I guess it’s not that much of a shock. That’s the way it is. If i don’t look like you, if i different in any way then you can’t see the person you can only see that i’m different and therefore unexceptable. Something not someone to be looked down upon. Or just looked over, for what having brown skin?. Yeah whatever a lot of people can sing a song, even some that sound just like him, only better. He’s not so speical, I read that alot of things have gone wrong for him, well what can i say bad things happen to bad people, suck it up. And there’s more were that came from. What a joke.

S T Alley August 4, 2010

Gee Sandrah,

I too “was so pleased to find this amazing guy with this amazing voice.” I too have read extensively about him, and I think you got your person mixed up with someone else. You couldn’t possibly be speaking of Steve Perry, huh? Hopefully, you’re not paying attention to that Sarah S. article.

A lot of things have gone wrong for a lot of people, but that does not make them deserving of bad. Things happen in life. If you have read about what has gone wrong with Steve Perry, I guess you missed all the things that have gone right for him.

I would say no one sounds just like him, and definitely not better!, as you stated before you got upset “guy with this amazing voice.” Try not to wish ill upon someone you don’t know (or know), I continue to read about this guy “with this amazing voice,” who has been dubbed “The Voice.” And, that’s no joke.

Take care of yourself and best wishes to SP.

M Veronica August 6, 2010

Steve, THE WORLD MISSES YOU!!!! I sometimes think I was born in the wrong decade, and the wrong country because I would have been in every concert if I could. I absolutely love his voice, songs, the passion he make us experience when he sings, wowww. I discovered Journey and his music, because I was dating a guy who called himself ¨journeyman¨¨, when I dumped the guy I stole his beloved Cd´s just to anger him jajaja, but I ended up loving the music. I love you Steve, from Panama.

Nancy (1994 toronto) August 13, 2010

Dear Steve Perry,

if you really read this I do hope you listen very well to it. I need you to come back to singing that wonderful music that is inside of you. you’ve been holding it in too long, so you come back alone. but your not alone you have all of your fans and for me personally after I meet you back in 1994 in Toronto. I so wished that after all you have been threw you would come back and I know that you would come back bigger then ever. I’m standing by your side with open arms if you do come back.

take care
Nancy

Listened to Journey in Iraq and Afg. 70-80s. Journey is the best. Can you imagine the tickets sales in 2010??

Miss you man!

First concert of my teen years 1978 (champaign, ill).

mmc August 20, 2010

I have always been a Steve Perry and Journey fan.His voice made me happy and i will always think of Journey and Steve Perry as one.I wonder why he never tried to go back with them even once in awhile to give his true fans a treat.I wonder if he can’t reach those high notes anymore and doesn’t want to dissapoint his fans.I never saw Journey in concert…I was raising my three sons and there was no extra money for anything…so I kept hoping that now that my sons are grown men that i would someday be able to see him sing.It doesn’t look like that will ever be but in his words….”don’t stop Believing’1!!!!!

shelly fleming August 22, 2010

Steve journey is nothing with you and we in alaska miss that you have the most beautiful voice that comes from your heart i have seen you twice with journey now i hope to just see you unless you go back to journey thank you for the best songs and albums journey will never be able to replace you even though they have tried not only does the singer not look like you he will never sing like you good luck in your endeavors and have a great day

One of the greatest shows I have ever seen – Steve Perry at The Beacon Theatre in New York City in the 90′s. The famous suit fell down from the ceiling, and Steve started talking to it….then put it on and lit up the place with his vocals.

Steve Perry is still the greatest………all the best Steve.
